Class Description: This class is a continuation of Phonics and Spelling 1 or for those students who are ready for more challenging phonics instruction. Using the Orton-Gillingham method, we will learn syllables, compound words, suffixes, vowel digraphs, ending sounds, and consonant blends. A variety of hands-on activities and games will be used to reinforce each phonics rule.
Each class will consist of a new lesson, a hands-on activity, grammar, a writing component and time in the workbook. We will move from learning how to form a complete sentence to writing different types of paragraphs by the end of the year!

Teacher Biography: Hello! I am married to David Cartwright and am a homeschooling mom of three (11, 9, and 5). I have a passion for teaching reading and elementary math in a fun, hands-on way for better understanding! I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, minor in music and spent many years tutoring children in reading before starting my own family. I love to hike, do puzzles and play the French horn!
