Class Description: What has God been doing in the world for the last 2,000 years?
Let’s find out! In this course, we’ll explore the history of the church, the Bride of Christ, the most precious institution on earth!
We’ll use Nathan Busenitz’s Forerunners of the Faith workbook with his companion lectures to guide us through the timeline of the church age, beginning in the 1st century through modern times, introducing us to some of the major figures and events in church history.
We’ll also learn through assigned podcasts, particularly Stephen J. Nichols’ 5 Minutes in Church History, Hymn Study, and especially biographies, identifying faithful “mentors” from our Christian heritage.
We’ll enjoy a bright spotlight on the Reformation–in October, of course!–touching back on it again in the spring. We’ll be encouraged in the faith by catching a glimpse of what God has done in prior generations.
Soli Deo Gloria!

Teacher Biography: Hello! My name is Laura Lamb. I am blessed to be the wife of Jeff and the mother of four amazing kids: Jaxon, Cooper, Asher, and Katelynn. For the past 15 years, we have been a homeschooling family, cherishing the journey of growing together while seeking God and His glory in our lives. The Lord has graciously allowed me to serve as a Children’s Director at our previous church in Texas, led me to lead a Mom’s Group for five years, and currently, I serve in Childcare and lead a Discipleship Group at my church, FBC Newcastle.
I am thrilled about the opportunity to teach your students about the Word of God! Understanding the layout, history, and methods of studying the Bible for oneself is a priceless gift. My hope is that your students will develop a deeper love, hunger, and confidence in the Word of God after taking this course.
