Class Description: As the foundation for all high school mathematics, algebra is a critical foundation in any student’s education. This course will cover topics of basic algebra concepts including integers, real number properties, solving linear equations, the coordinate plane, graphing linear functions, slope of a line, inequalities, polynomials, factoring of polynomials, algebraic fractions, proportions, solving systems of equations, quadratic and exponential functions, right triangles, radical and rational expressions/equations, statistics, and probability. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have a greater understanding on mathematical thinking and be prepared for future math and science courses that require Algebra as a prerequisite.
This course will be taught through on-line quizzes after each lesson to ensure knowledge content and will introduce the graphing calculator applications for *TI-84 plus or *TI-84 plus silver edition. (NO Color C or CE) The graphing calculator will help prepare for college classes requiring the graphing calculator but also prepare students how to use the calculator for the ACT test. Calculators TI-83 plus & TI-84 plus C/CE (color) do NOT work with some apps/programs. I would NOT suggest the purchase of these.
Note: This class requires the student to SHOW ALL WORK, parent/student to GRADE all HOMEWORK assignments, and the student to REWORK all missed problems with work well organized and legible to receive a 100% completion grade. Missing work is only accepted up to 2 weeks late with points off. (1 week late =25% off, 2 weeks late=50% off, after 2 weeks=zero will be given)

Teacher Biography: I am a wife of 32 years to Brad, a mother to two beautiful daughters, and two sweet grandbabies. I have lived in Tuttle for nearly 30 years. I homeschooled my two daughters in 8th grade for my oldest, Allison and 4th grade for my youngest, Julia. I have a degree in Math Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and am certified in all middle school and high school math courses through Calculus. I have experience of teaching in public school and homeschool co-ops for over 20 years combined. I have taught in Norman and Moore in their middle schools and high schools. I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, ACT Math Prep, Trigonometry, Algebra 3: College Algebra CLEP, and Calculus. I have worked with math curriculum companies in the past for approximately six years reviewing and creating reports for the departments of education throughout the United States. The companies take these reports to their state departments for their curriculum to be chosen across the school districts for state adoptions. I have also written many test questions for state tests. I have also been tutoring math for about 25 years including public school students, Epic students, homeschooled students, and college students. God has a great plan for me through teaching including other students as well as my own. I am always amazed by God’s blessings and those I have encountered through my journey. HE has allowed me to teach my own children along with gifting others as well. I love teaching and gear my teaching to the success of my students! They are the reason I am here!!
