Class Description: This course is designed to meet the requirements as one of the three math credits for college bound students. Geometry will include the study of spatial relationships with plane and solid geometry. It includes precise definitions, theorems, and postulates relating to plane and solid figures. Special attention is given to the theorems involving parallel and perpendicular lines, congruency in segments, and properties with angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals. Circles, their tangents, their arcs and chords, with related properties, are also discussed. Students will develop deductive reasoning skills as they complete basic proofs relating to these figures.

This course will also encourage the development of inductive thinking skills and their application to theoretical and real life situations. Algebra is integrated throughout the course. Students will also study topics regarding area, volume, coordinate geometry, and basic right triangle trigonometry. This course will be taught through on-line quizzes after each lesson to ensure knowledge content and through graphing calculator applications for *TI-84 plus or *TI-84 plus silver edition. (NO Color C or CE) The graphing calculator will help prepare for college classes requiring the graphing calculator, but also prepare students how to use the calculator for the ACT test. Calculators TI-83 plus & TI-84 plus C/CE (color) do NOT work with some apps/programs. I would NOT suggest the purchase of these.

Note: This class requires the student to SHOW ALL WORK, parent/student to GRADE all homework assignments, and student to REWORK missed problems with work organized and legible to receive a 100% completion grade. Missing work is only accepted up to 2 weeks late with points off. (1 week late =25% off, 2 weeks late=50% off, after 2 weeks=zero will be given)

Teacher Biography: I am a wife of 32 years to Brad, a mother to two beautiful daughters, and two sweet grandbabies. I have lived in Tuttle for nearly 30 years. I homeschooled my two daughters in 8th grade for my oldest, Allison and 4th grade for my youngest, Julia. I have a degree in Math Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and am certified in all middle school and high school math courses through Calculus. I have experience of teaching in public school and homeschool co-ops for over 20 years combined. I have taught in Norman and Moore in their middle schools and high schools. I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, ACT Math Prep, Trigonometry, Algebra 3: College Algebra CLEP, and Calculus. I have worked with math curriculum companies in the past for approximately six years reviewing and creating reports for the departments of education throughout the United States. The companies take these reports to their state departments for their curriculum to be chosen across the school districts for state adoptions. I have also written many test questions for state tests. I have also been tutoring math for about 25 years including public school students, Epic students, homeschooled students, and college students. God has a great plan for me through teaching including other students as well as my own. I am always amazed by God’s blessings and those I have encountered through my journey. HE has allowed me to teach my own children along with gifting others as well. I love teaching and gear my teaching to the success of my students! They are the reason I am here!!
