Length: 1 hour Class

Class Description: Oklahoma has a history unlike any other. In this course, we’ll focus on the history of our state since the Land Run, discovering how the pioneers built infrastructure, interacted with the Native Americans, and how we became the 46th state in the Union. We’ll cover the oil booms, Dust Bowl, and massacre at Greenwood. We’ll evaluate how wars, a serious economic bust, the Murrah Building bombing, and economic redevelopment led to where we are today. We’ll carefully consider each event, asking why they happened and what we can learn from it.

Our state’s history is full of grit, hope, and innovation. Understanding it provides perspective for the present: how we can continue to move forward with hope and perseverance.
