Materials: Students will need a note-taking materials, a computer with word processing or access to free sites like Google Docs, library access (for research), internet access (for news), and a printer for projects and assignments.

Length: 1.5 hour Class

Class Description: This course offers a study of the foundations, principles, and structures of the United States government. Students will read through the Constitution to understand the roles of the branches of government and the protections we possess as citizens. We’ll also cover political parties and elections, and briefly cover how ideology drives legislation and moves history. Through critical thinking activities and discussion, students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to become informed, responsible citizens.

Teacher Biography: Hannah DeForest is a homeschooling mom in Oklahoma City. She possesses a bachelor’s degree in history, with an emphasis in political science and secondary education. Hannah is passionate about helping others understand the flow of history and how the Word of God guides us in navigating our own time. She also cares deeply about personal growth and enjoys coaching others in discovering and developing their gifts and skills.
