Class Description: This course introduces students to the fundamentals of journalism through a mixed media approach. Students will learn how to tell stories using writing, photography, video, and basic design. Emphasis is placed on developing interviewing skills, understanding news values, and creating content for school publications such as newsletters, yearbooks, or digital platforms.

Students will explore:
• News writing and storytelling basics
• Photography and visual storytelling
• Introductory video and audio production
• Digital design and layout
• Responsible media use and ethics

By the end of the course, students will be able to create simple multimedia projects and contribute to school media while building confidence in communication and creativity.

Teacher Biography: Hello! My name is Melody Schellenger. I love coffee, nature, and music! I am a second-generation homeschooler with a BA in music and education. I am a wife of 15 years and mom to three. I can’t wait to sing and explore the wonderful world of music with you!!!
