Class Description: This literature class consists of reading, analyzing, and discussing various novels to understand how authors use language to create meaning. Classes focus on critical thinking, requiring students to interpret texts, develop arguments, and explore historical or cultural contexts. Common activities include writing essays, participating in discussions, studying literary techniques, comprehension through games, incorporating hands on activities, and projects.

Homework will include some writing assignments, literature reading, answering questions, and projects. Students will be responsible for homework each week.

Approximate time for homework each week outside of class: 1-3 hours

Teacher Biography: Amanda is married to her best friend Randy, and they have five grown children and one middle schooler at home. She’s homeschooled for 8 years and has a love of teaching others. She has over 20 years experience teaching, coaching and tutoring. The McKay’s are active members at First Baptist Midwest City. Amanda loves yard work, sewing, and playing cello.
